2006/07 Player of the Year

It was a long time coming, but Nathan Kelly became the inaugural winner of The Giannini Player of the Year Award. Nathan slogged away for three seasons spearheading the attack.

Nathan had a fantastic season with the ball. He topped the wickets list taking 34 wickets at an average of 21.00. From the 15 innings that he bowled, he took wickets on all bar 3 occasions. He ended with two 5 wicket hauls.

Nathan’s batting came to the fore as well. He was the second highest run scorer with 309 runs at an average of 34.33. His highest score was a 52 not out in round 6 against Summer Hill, a match we tragically lost after scoring 338. Nathan was left frustratingly not out on 5 occasions.

In 3 seasons, Nathan took 82 wickets at an average of 19.91. He also scored 639 runs at an average of 22.82. This included a punishing ton (117) against Earlwood Wanderers.

In the season of 2006/07, Nathan stood up and was counted. He played every match. The team finished 5th, only 5 points away from a semi final spot. Without Nathan’s long spells and patient runs, the season could have really been ugly.
