2005/06 Player of the Year

The 2005/06 saw Tasker Park Cricket Club return as competitive force.
The introduction of 3 dynamic players from
India unaffected by intimidation
and a drop back to 6 division resulted in quite a successful season.

Joe Zaccheo took out his second Player of the Year Award. He top
scored for the season with 430 runs at an average of 33.08. He also took the
most wickets; 34 at an average of 18.00. I spoke to him and started by asking
him what his thoughts were of the season.

“I thoroughly enjoyed being part of a competitive team again after the
disappointing previous season where we only won 2 games. I would have
relinquished this award for another title, but again, after winning the minor
premiership, we lost to the 4th placed team and eventual winners Earlwood.”

Tell us about your own personal performances. “I was very happy with
my batting. I have only scored one century and other than that my highest scores
are in the sixties. So to have brought up scores of 90 and 88 was very satisfying.
Unfortunately, both these scores were in a losing team. I was very happy with
my bowling. I just try and bowl line and length with the new ball and then try
some variation if I return for a second spell.”

“I would like to pay special tribute to Tony Banboukjian who scored 338
runs including two scores in the sixties, and took 26 catches as keeper, and
Nathan Kelly who took 25 wickets and scored a devastating 117 against
eventual winners Earlwood.”
