Tribute to
Chris Hurley
(1984-2005)
our larrikin friend
In the midst of an otherwise normal off-season, we lost a loveable and unique friend in a freaky alcohol related accident. Chris was born on 20 December 1984, and died on 10 July 2005 at the age of 20.
He will be remembered for his larrikinism at training, always challenging others about his superior abilities, which rarely eventuated. Game day was the same, telling us how he was going to save us from a dire position, none of which eventuated either; and for his unrivalled pedantic attitude towards scoring.
Chris will be missed. He had time for everyone; he brightened up dull situations and left his mark on everybody he met. Goodbye!
"I'll miss his cut shots off leg stump and his sweep shots off quicks, but most of all I'll miss him as that fountain of knowledge who proudly professed to know everything and nothing at the same time. So long, mate." James Kite
"No matter how hard I try to look at this tragedy in the jovial way that Chris would have, I can’t help but feel a senselessness and numbness from the demonstration once again of the fragility of life. My emotion stems from the closeness in age to Chris and also from having children that are so fragile themselves. Chris, you were a fine fellow and you are rightly receiving just praise. God Bless!" Joe Zaccheo
"He really was a character and he will be sorely missed! Peace out Chris!" Rob Squillacioti
