Welcome to the 5th annual KWAAPOC Presentation night and Annual Report presentation.

This past season has seen the phasing in of Tasker Park Cricket Club (TPCC) Inc as the new
framework for which the club, formerly known as “Kwaapoc” will be run under. As of next season, we will
officially call ourselves Tasker Park Cricket Club Inc. This registration falls under the jurisdiction of the
NSW government’s
Associations Incorporation Act.

There will be some aspects of the club that will take time to change over whilst there may be
aspects of it which we will want to keep. One of the things that may change is the website name.
Something we may not want to change could be the “KWAAPOC” sign. However, I would like for the
team to be referred to as “Kwaapoc”. So when we are out in the field, instead of chanting, “C’mon
Tasker
Park Cricket Club”, we may chant. “C’mon KWAAPOC”. This acknowledges the history of the club.

The Club’s committee of 5 is made up of the following persons. The three office bearers are:
President: Maria Zaccheo, Secretary: Joseph Zaccheo, Treasurer: John Zaccheo, and the two ordinary
members are: Deen Nair and Carl Hanebuth.

I have unashamedly stacked the numbers on the committee. I have worked tirelessly in establishing
and maintaining this club, and I would like to keep control of it. This structure does, however protect all
those involved from the savages of litigation. Prior to the incorporated association, I could have been
personally liable for any injury sustained by a player, property damaged, injury of a non-participant and the
list goes on. Under the new structure, we are all protected from t
he National Club Insurance Program that
Cricket Australia has negotiated on behalf of cricket clubs with insurer JLT Sport. Through this
arrangement all cricket clubs have access to comprehensive insurance coverage, from the spectator to the
committee member. All the details are available at http://www.jltsport.com.au/CricketAustralia/.

I think I speak for all when I sum up the season as unlucky and disappointing. After our smashing
start against Horse & Jockey, we only managed one other victory. We lost 4 games by 33 runs or less, and
two of those were by less than 7 runs. We lost another two by 3 wickets. For me the turning point was our
round 8 loss to Horse & Jockey. Up until then I was still optimistic. We’d played well and had good
players. It was only a matter of time before we’d turn it around. I believed that if we could beat Horse &
Jockey and Hurlstone Park in the last two matches before the Christmas break, that we would have been in
good shape, having won 4 out of 9 matches.

In that round 8 match, we had them 4/9 including their accomplished batsmen and captain M.
Canellis. They only had 9 players and they painfully edged to 8 (all out) for 137. We only managed to get
109 with ten wickets. Then we lost a thriller against Hurlstone Park by 7 runs. It wasn’t to be.

We had some good performances during the season. Paul top scored with an 84 and knocked up
300 runs that include 3 x 50’s. James and I both scored 2 x 50’s, whilst Rob, Carl and Tony got one each. I
accumulated the most runs with 317 at an ordinary average of 18.65, whilst Rob ended up with 285 runs
with the best average of 28.50. Great effort.

Nathan was our best bowler. He finished up with 23 wickets at 16.00. I took the most wickets with
26 at 19.62. Patty was third with 20 wickets at 23.10. The highlight with the ball was my 6/49 off 12 and
the consistency of Nathan and Patty. Nathan took a wicket every innings he bowled except two and Patty
all except for one.

There was some great catching and fielding. Horizontal catches by Stan, a one-hander by David
and a slips catch that was behind him by George spring to mind. Carl affected a great run out. He ran on to
a ball at square leg and with one stump to aim at acrobatically threw them down.

I think we needed another 3 or 4 wins and a chance to make the semi finals to have called it a
reasonably successful and fun season. It was fun most of the time and that’s because you are a great bunch
of guys. I can’t wait to go around next season.

Lastly and definitely not least, I’d like to thank my wife and children and all the wives and
girlfriends for putting up with us and for their help and support.
