2003/04 Player of the Year

The winner of the 2003/04 Player

of the Year Award was John Neville.

For those of you that know John and

have played with him will know what

an amazing athlete he is. He missed the

first game, got a duck in the second

and broke his nose from misjudging a

high catch. He then proceeded to miss

the next 2 games due to the operation

requiring injury. John made his presence

felt immediately upon his return in round

5 against Summer Hill at Beaman Park 2.

He took 4/26 off 11 overs as we bowled

them out for 130 and then started the

scoring spree by hitting a quick and

impressive 49 as we raced to 6/201 dec.

Not a bad start for someone who

virtually hadn’t played any cricket for

over 7 months.

John amassed 357 runs from only 10 matches and 12 innings at an

average of 29.75. He ended with the most runs and best batting average.

He took the third most wickets with 27 at an impressive average of

11.67. In order to demonstrate how good this effort was, Patrick Marrins,

who had an explosive season terrorising batsmen, took the most wickets

ending up with 41 at an average of 11.12. He won the C&WSCA Award

for the bowler with the best average for this effort. Well done John and

thanks for great season.

                2003/04 Clubman Award

        David Foreman won the inaugural

Clubman Award for his efforts off the

field. He signed up as a casual, but he

was a regular at training and was

punctual at all games. He achieved

particular admiration for turning up to

games as 12th man and contributing

wherever needed. A truly deserved

winner!

This award will only be awarded if

the club’s committee deems a candidate

worthy.
