Welcome to the 4th annual KWAAPOC Presentation night and Annual Report presentation.

Kwaapoc has been competitive from day one regardless of the odds. This season was the same as
we dominated the home and away season. We won 9 games, lost 3 and drew 2. We finished as Minor
Premiers for the second time in the clubs history. We were actually first or equal first for the entire season,
except after round 4, and finished 11 points clear. Unfortunately we couldn’t finish it off stumbling at the
    semi-final stage.

Last season we finished third and lost the grand final. The C&WSCA saw it fit to elevate us to 5th
division. This was despite the loss of a number of key players. In two years we were elevated from 7th to 5th
division whilst losing players of the calibre of Sam Giannini, Noel Ornelas, Gino Pruscino, Ranga Rajan,
Mohammed Ahmad and Stuart Cordwell. The association does not have a process to allow for objections to
their grading decisions. That left us with the task of recruiting for numbers as well as for talent. Greg, Deen
and I had some contacts, but it was Greg that hit the Jackpot with his contact Rob Squillacioti. I admit I
was concerned at first having eighteen year olds to manage. Were they going to be reliable? Were they
going to take it seriously? How (im)mature were they going to be? How wrong was I?

Rob, James, Patrick, John and Chris were all very mature, very reliable and also very talented.
Greg also managed to recruit Tony and David F. We now had a solid squad and we went about the business
of training and playing cricket as if we had known one another for years.

We had 6 batsmen score over 200 runs with John Neville scoring the most runs (357)at the best
average of 29.75. I’d like to mention James who finished equal fourth with 252 run with a very respectable
average of 25.20. Patrick dominated the bowling with 41 wickets and hardly bowled a bad ball let alone a
bad spell. He finished with an average of 11.12. I took 29 wickets at an average of 17.17 and John Neville
took 27 at an average of 11.67. Chris also bowled consistently well without much luck to take 17 wickets at
14.47. His bowling in the first innings of the semi final was impressive.

I would like to make a special mention of our casuals Paul, David Newman, Carl Hanebuth and
especially John Zaccheo and David Foreman. John was unlucky and disappointed in missing out on the
first eleven at the end of the season. And David Foreman was inspirational with his continual willingness to
assist as 12th man and make almost every training session right til the end. You guys held the team together
at the start of the season and in January when we were short in numbers. Even though you didn’t play many
games towards the end of the season, you were part of the team. Cricket is a team sport and a reliable squad
is important to having a good team. I hope you all return next season. You will all get a regular game as we
strive for that elusive second team.

I would like to thank Greg for taking on the Captain’s duty so diligently. You all showed him the
respect that he deserved. I hope he’s keen to do it again next season.

Thanks to all of you as a squad. The communication from you all was good and it made my job
managing the team relatively easy. Thanks to all of you who attended training regularly.

You’re a great bunch of guys and I hope we all do it again next season.

Lastly I’d like to thank my wife and all the wives and girlfriends for putting up with us and for
    their help and support.

PLEASE TAKE BUSINESS CARDS AND RECRUIT!!!
