2000/2001 Player of the Year

The inaugural winner of the KWAAPOC Player of the

    Year Award was Sam Giannini.

Sam was the third highest run scorer with 316 at the

second best average of 26.33.  Joe Zaccheo scored

413 and Gray Charlton 341. Greg Giannini had the

best average at 30.56 with 275 runs.

Sam took the second highest number of wickets with

23 at an average of 13.74. Mohammed Ahmad topped

the wickets narrowly with 25. Matthew Galligan and Wayne Cantrell both took 16.

Sam also topped the catches with 11 and had 1 direct run out.

Sam consistently performed with the bat and ball winning many matches for the team. His 54 not out against Manihiki in the last round gave us the vital bonus point we needed to finish 4th and clinch a semi final spot.

He (and Gray) took some great slips catches including a blinder against Concord West at Arthur Walker.

Sam was also of great assistance to me off the park, which I am very thankful for.

2002 was a big year for Sam. Not only for winning the Player of the Year Award, but he became a Dad for the
second time. He and is lovely wife Carmelina gave birth to James in September.

Well deserved and all the best for 2001/02!
